Aluminum Extruded Plate Heat Sink with 2 Heat Pipes Joined by Friction Stir Welding (FSW)

 
This heat sink is mainly constructed of 6063/6061 aluminum extruded profiles, with 2 built‑in copper heat pipes. The heat pipes are seamlessly metallurgically bonded to the aluminum base via Friction Stir Welding (FSW). It combines the mass‑production cost advantage of aluminum extrusion, the ultra‑fast temperature equalization capacity of heat pipes, and structural reliability with ultra‑low thermal resistance from friction stir welding. It serves as a mainstream high‑efficiency cooling solution for medium‑to‑high‑power electronic devices.
 

I. Core Structural Composition

 

Aluminum Extruded Main Body

 
Integrally extruded plate‑shaped aluminum base with vertical cooling fins. Dense and regular fins provide large ventilation and heat dissipation area. Two pre‑embedded heat pipe grooves are milled on the base for 2 heat pipes, which can be arranged in parallel or staggered layout.
 

2 Heat Pipes

 
Commonly Φ6/Φ8 sintered copper heat pipes with sealed ends, pre‑embedded into the grooves of the aluminum base. They conduct rapid lateral heat transfer and uniform heat spreading, eliminating local hot spots on the aluminum base.
 

Friction Stir Welding Joint Layer

 
Solid‑state welding is adopted with no melting, cold solder joints or brazing filler. The outer wall of heat pipes is directly metallurgically bonded to the aluminum groove walls, completely eliminating air‑gap thermal resistance caused by traditional tin soldering or pipe pressing.
 

Surface Treatment

 
Anodizing, black electrophoretic coating and nickel plating to improve corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and radiative heat dissipation capacity.
